Random Playoff Facts for Each Playoff Team

LeBron has never missed four consecutive NBA Finals in his career...

The newly added play-in games are complete and our seeding and matchups for this year’s playoffs is set in stone. Now that teams are ready to begin actual playoff play, we’re going to dive into some interesting facts for each team playing in the Playoffs.

Boston Celtics:

The last time the Celtics won 60+ games in a season they won the NBA Finals and every time that Boston has won 61+ games in franchise history, they have made the NBA Finals. Back in 2008, Boston won 66 games and won the championship.

Oklahoma City Thunder:

If the Thunder were to win the NBA Finals this year they would become the youngest NBA team in history to win the title. The 1977 Trailblazers are currently the youngest team to win the Finals with an average age of 24.199.

Denver Nuggets:

This season the Nuggets tied their franchise record for wins in a season at 57. However, the last time the organization had a 57-win season they lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Minnesota Timberwolves:

The Timberwolves organization has only made it out of the first round of the playoffs once in its existence. The last and only time was in the 2004 season. All time, Minnesota is 21-42 in playoff games.

Los Angeles Clippers:

The star players for the Clippers; Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, James Harden and Russell Westbrook all, individually have more conference finals appearances than the Clippers organization does. With 16 conference finals appearances between the four, they have more of such appearances than the Clippers have playoff series wins.

New York Knicks:

The last three 25+ PPG scorers for the Knicks have never won in the first round. The last three 25+ PPG scorers were Julius Randle, Carmelo Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire and Jalen Brunson now makes the 4th.

Dallas Mavericks:

No team of a scoring title winner has won the NBA Finals since Shaq did in 2000. Since 1975, the only player to win the scoring title and championship in the same season was Michael Jordan.

Milwaukee Bucks:

Milwaukee hasn’t played Indiana in the playoffs since 2000 and have only won 2 playoff games versus the Pacers all time. The Bucks are just 3-2 without Giannis in the lineup in the playoffs — he’s expected to at the least miss game one.

Phoenix Suns:

History after a Finals appearance has went like this for the Suns; Second round exit, second round exit and first round exit. After making the Finals in 2021, the Suns have already had their second round exits meaning that this years playoffs would be their second round exit.

New Orleans Pelicans:

The Pelicans just recorded the second most regular season wins in franchise history this year. The franchise is new, but only has two playoff series wins in history and only one in the last 10 years.

Cleveland Cavaliers:

The Cavs have never made the NBA Finals without LeBron and have only made the Conference Finals twice without LeBron in 1992 & 1976. Without LeBron, the Cavaliers have never won a playoff series since James got into the league.

Orlando Magic:

The Magic haven’t won a playoff series since 2010 when they were a 2-seed. The organizations last two playoff series wins have also led to a conference finals appearance.

Indiana Pacers:

Despite making the playoffs 5 times since then, the Pacers haven’t won a playoff series since 2014. And in their last 5 playoff series, they have only won 6 total games.

Los Angeles Lakers:

If LeBron doesn’t make the NBA Finals this year, it’ll be the longest stretch of his career without a Finals appearance at 4 years since his last. He’s missed the Finals 3 consecutive years three times in his career now; 2003-2006, 2007-2010, & 2020-Current

Philadelphia 76ers:

This organization hasn’t seen a conference finals since 2001 with Allen Iverson who led them to the NBA Finals that year. In the NBA era, the 76ers have never made the Finals in a season that they won less than 50 games.

Miami Heat:

The Heat have the most Finals appearances of any franchise in the last 15 years but only have two titles to show for it. They also earned a first round matchup against the Celtics, a team they’ve never beat in the first round.
